Leading Australian photographer Ken Duncan will accompany a group of shutterbugs to China. Widely renowned for his panoramic landscape images, Burns has teamed up with the Australian Geographic Society and China specialist of 26 years, Helen Wong’s Tours, to create a five-star, 18-day, Great Shots of China Tour, leaving Australia on May 17 next year.
The exclusive escorted tour — priced from $11,000 a person, twin share, including Cathay Pacific airfares — will begin in capital Beijing and go to some of China’s most breathtaking regions.
‘‘You’ve heard of the treasures of the Orient, well, we’ve found them for you,’’ said Burns on his recent return from a reconnaissance mission with his daughter Jessica.
‘‘The itinerary has been designed carefully to give you the best possible photographic opportunities.
‘‘Every activity is planned to put you at the right place at the right time for that perfect shot, and I will be there to answer any questions.’’
The group will explore Beijing icons — the Great Wall, Summer Palace and the Forbidden City — and will be guided through the cobblestoned streets of the ancient town of Lijiang.
‘‘We will drift along the Li River near Guilin as locals fish from traditional bamboo rafts and capture the breathtaking beauty that has inspired artists for centuries,’’ Burns said.
‘‘You will discover the stark beauty of the Stone Forest, be amazed by the sapphire lakes of Jiuzhaigou and be delighted by your encounter with giant pandas in Chengdu.
‘‘You will enjoy delicious Chinese cuisine and world-class cultural shows in the evenings.’’
The price includes five-star hotel accommodation and all meals, Cathay Pacific international and domestic airfares with transfers, four evening shows, sightseeing and entrance fees, departure taxes, security and fuel surcharges (subject to change).
Each guest will receive travel kits, a 408-page Odyssey China book and cabin bag; Australian passport holders will receive a free China visa, too.
