The Great House on Necker Island, the private home of Sir Richard Branson and part of the Virgin Limited Edition collection, is ready to welcome its first guests.
After a two-year project these exclusive snapshots show the final exterior and interior layout of the new Great House, which has been remodelled on the original design, with the addition of some innovative design twists.
Inspired by the beautiful features and Balinese style of the original structure, the new Great House has breathtaking panoramic views of the Caribbean, the Atlantic and neighbouring islands. Each of the eight guest rooms has a balcony, king-size beds and spacious en-suite bathrooms.
On the upper level is the master suite (1500 square feet), designed for panoramic views from almost every angle; there is a two-person jacuzzi, a stand-alone outdoor bath and a kitchenette area with a stocked fridge.
The expansive outdoor terrace has hammocks, sofas, a large dining table and a stocked bar for favourite cocktails; the crow’s nest on the roof has a jacuzzi and stunning views, and if you want a dip in the ocean before lunch, hop on the zip-line to take you from the terrace to the sandy white beach.
Sir Richard Branson says: ‘‘Necker Island has been my home for more than 30 years and it is the most beautiful place in the world for me. The new Great House is the heart of the island and I’m thrilled with the results. This signals a new dawn for Necker.’’
Necker Island accommodation comprises nine bedrooms in the Great House and six individual Bali houses dotted around the island. A Great House bunkroom sleeps up to six children. Up to 30 (and six children) can enjoy the island at a nightly rate of USD $60,000 until December 31, 2013.
Apart from being the ultimate relaxing paradise, the island is the perfect setting for a wedding or a celebration with family and friends. If you want to enjoy the full Necker experience without having to hire the entire island, Celebration Weeks guests can book an individual room ‘‘hotel-style’’’ for seven nights.
Necker Island is in the British Virgin Islands, a stunning and unspoilt area of the Caribbean, surrounded by turquoise waters and coral reefs, and fringed with beautiful white sandy beaches.
