Sea Cloud Cruises has added world renowned yachtsman Burghard Pieske as their guest lecturer aboard the Sea Cloud II’s first voyage for the upcoming 2014-15 Caribbean season.
He will accompany passengers as they follow in Columbus’s footsteps, taking the trade winds from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean isle of Antigua, named by Columbus himself.
Departing 24 November 2014, the 15-night voyage starts Sea Cloud and Sea Cloud II’s 2014-15 season in the warm waters of Central America, Cuba, and the Caribbean.
Throughout the season, the 32 cabin Sea Cloud and 47 cabin Sea Cloud II will visit many beautiful Caribbean harbours between them, including jewels like St Lucia, Grenada, and Dominica, as well as the jet-set island of St Barthélemy where manmade jewels steal the show. Former pirate haunts in the British Virgin Islands, the French savoir-faire of the Iles des Saintes, and the Dutch colonial heritage of the ‘ABC’ islands – Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao – are also on the itineraries.
Sea Cloud will transit the Panama Canal and visit Panama’s lush PearlIslands playground, call at ancient Mayan sites in Mexico, explore the dazzling Belize Barrier Reef and Costa Rica’s world-famous national parks and visit spirited Cuba.
Pieske is a geographer, educator, author and ship’s captain who spent 10 years sailing around the world. He specialises in reliving authentic historic sea voyages.
The two ships will have cruises around Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, St Vincent and Grenadines, Guadeloupe amongst other island stop offs.
