A health retreat in a hamlet and only an hour from Sydney: Bells at Killcare

As Michelle KARAMAN-JONES discovers…. You don’t have to go too far off the main road to enjoy a gourmet getaway – in Central Coast of New South Wales.

We are at the perfect place for a romantic hideaway and a relaxing weekend.

After taking the Gosford exit on the M1 we came across the Killcare Heights on top of the hill on the Bouddi Peninsula, adjacent to the glorious Bouddi National Park. Killcare is less than two minutes from Pretty Beach and Hardys Bay; a small coastal village on the beautiful Brisbane Water National Park.

We were only 47 kilometres north of Sydney and already at our five-star cottage accommodation. With designer furnishings and luxurious king beds, sprawled over 24 acres of lush, established landscaped gardens, this is definitely a playground for adults.

Once we settled into our one-storey king size 5-star cottage it was hard to get out. It’s too comfy and too relaxing! if it wasn’t for our growing appetites I don’t think we would have left our room, but we had to satisfy our hunger and the onsite restaurant proved too tempting to turn down. The award-winning restaurant Manfredi at Bells is its name, with the godfather of Italian cooking, Stefano Manfredi, at the helm.

Lucky we didn’t need to leave the property to eat. Just a stroll and we were at the famous Bells restaurant ready to try everything that was on the menu with top quality wines to match.

The retreat has 25 comfortable luxurious rooms and all with a kitchen and free-standing bath tub in every room. With a little extra added, it has a luxury day spa and refreshing lap pool to make it the perfect place for relaxation.

Bells at Killcare was purchased in 2006 by John Singleton’s Coast and Country property group. It has been inspired by Cape Lodge in WA and Yering Station in the Yarra Valley. Stefano Manfredi and Julie Manfredi-Hughes came on board to assist with the vision and redesign the entire dining experience. Karina & Brian Barry manage the property.

All classes are based around the seasonal bounty harvested from the Bells at Killcare kitchen garden, with a focus on the sustainable, fresh and simple Italian cuisine, which is the hallmark of the Manfredi at Bells menu.
It’s a full day, starting with a stroll through the vegetables gardens, gathering the ingredients required. After this, it’s into the kitchen for some demonstrations and plenty of practical experience. Once the dishes are created, it’s time to enjoy to delicious meal you have just prepared. The whole group, along with the chefs, will sit down for a relaxed long lunch paired with wines from the award winning Manfredi at Bells wine list.

Luxury Pilates Weekend – Melissa Wright from MG Pilates will facilitate both weekends and bring along her expertise and knowledge to share with you.

Melissa is the owner and director of MG Pilates in Sydney. She began her Pilates journey at the age of 15 while studying full time ballet in Sydney.

Melissa loves that Pilates can be adapted to suit every-body. It brings her great joy and satisfaction to see people change old movement habits and improve their lifestyles. She believes that change in body and mind can come from movement. Pilates is self exploration in body and mind and that freeing your mind from old thought patterns ultimately frees the body. You are what you think you are! Balance is the key.

Next 2 nights all inclusive weekend Pilates will be held on Friday 27 to Sunday 29 June, 2014.
